Inside NRL Gold Coast Titans co-owners $10.8m mansion buy

NRL Titans co-owners Darryl and Joanne Kelly scored a $10.8 million auction win, taking the keys to a riverfront mansion in a prized Gold Coast location.

The luxurious Hamptons-style trophy home at Paradise Waters had sat empty since it last changed hands in June 2022 when it was purchased by an interstate company director for $10.5m.

Ray White agent Robbie Graham marketed the Commodore Dr property, while auctioneer and Ray White Surfers Paradise chair Andrew Bell took an opening play of $7m from among 6 registered bidders on auction day.

The eight-figure deal has now settled, marking something of a homecoming for the Kellys, who sold another palatial Paradise Waters property for $8.075m in October 2021.

Kelly had served as director of the Gold Coast Titans before he and his wife took ownership of the club in 2017, alongside former chair, Rebecca Frizelle and her husband Brett.

The Kellys’ new five-bedroom, four-bathroom home on an 836sq m lot was designed by renowned local architect, Jared Poole, and has views over one of the widest sections of Gold Coast waterways.

A formal entrance makes a statement with 7m ceilings, while design highlights of the three-storey home include large windows, solid timber oak floorboards, coffered ceilings with recessed lighting, elegant timber wall panels, custom cornices and surround sound throughout.

French doors and plantation shutters open outdoors to manicured lawns and grand magnolia trees, as well as an elevated entertaining terrace by the water, heated 15m infinity-edge pool and built in fire-pit setting.

The spacious layout includes formal and informal areas both indoors and out, with multiple living zones across each level, as well as a study, gymnasium and ground floor guest suite.

Throughout the home, classic styling combines with the latest technology such as state-of-the-art automation controlling the lighting, blinds, alarm, audio, as well as ducted airconditioning and advanced security system.

The basement garage features six car spaces, a wine cellar, storage and mudroom.

Mr Graham described the property as “magnificent” during the sales campaign.

“Certainly, it is one of the most impressive homes to come to market, in a truly spectacular location,” Mr Graham said.

“With its proximity to TSS and St Hilda’s private schools, as well as dining hot spots on Tedder Ave and shopping precincts, this home wants for nothing.”

It was sold by Toorak business owner Denis Midor.

Property records show the Kellys retain a high-end apartment in Main Beach’s SEA building, purchased for $6.3m in December 2020.
